Ngaere Donald was born in Sydney, NSW.  From an early age she has loved painting and drawing, and was encouraged by her mother, an artist and student of Dattilo Rubbo.  Ngaere's intention was to attend art school but she got sidetracked by her other passion - horses.  Whilst working as a jillaroo she was inspired to paint horses, capturing their movement and colour in action. 

A curiosity about the Snowy river and where it meets the sea brought her to Orbost.  Here she married a dairy farmer and combined family and milking cows with painting. She has attended art workshops and classes whenever possible and completed a Visual Arts Degree at the Bairnsdale annex of the Gippsland Institute of Adult Education.

Ngaere paints in a loose impressionistic style using all mediums.  Her favourite subject is horses, but she also enjoys capturing her local rural landscape and surrounding environment.  "En plein aire" is her preferred  way of working and weather conditions add to the experience, bringing excitement and movement to her art.

Ngaere has successfully exhibited solo and also jointly with other artists and has been awarded many prizes.  Her works sell well and are owned by many local, national and international art lovers.  Ngaere's work can be seen at AGRA galleries, Camberwell and The Great Alpine Gallery,  Swifts Creek.  Her email contact is ngaerelynn@bigpond.com
